Your Annapolis Weekend Guide: St. Patrick’s Parade Weekend Events + Local Favorites
Things to Do Around Annapolis This Weekend (March 6 to 8)
St. Patrick’s Weekend energy is here and Annapolis is doing the absolute most (in the best way). Here’s your curated, local-friendly roundup with links, times, and a few “pro tips” sprinkled in.
The Jen Holden Group (Compass Real Estate) is all about living like a local, not just moving like one. If you ever want neighborhood vibes, school and commute context, or our favorite “walkable coffee then waterfront stroll” routes, we’re your people.
Midweek warm-ups (if you’re starting early)
Matisyahu Unplugged
Wed, March 4 • Show 8:00 PM (doors 7:00 PM) • Rams Head On Stage (West Street)
A classic Annapolis night: dinner downtown, then a show on West Street. If you like high-energy, genre-bending sets, this is a fun one to grab last-minute tickets for.
Paint Your Pet (yes, really)
Wed, March 4 • 6:30 PM • Herald Harbor Hideaway (Crownsville)
Bring your pet’s photo, grab a drink, and leave with art you will immediately want to frame (or gift). Great friend-date energy.
Navy Women’s Basketball vs Loyola (Md.)
Wed, March 4 • 7:00 PM • Alumni Hall (U.S. Naval Academy)
If you have never been to a game at Alumni Hall, this is a great excuse. Navy games are lively and family-friendly, and the Yard is always a cool experience.
City of Angels (The Colonial Players)
Thu, March 5 • 8:00 PM • Colonial Players Theater (Downtown)
A film noir musical with sharp dialogue, big energy, and that cozy, classic Colonial Players charm. Perfect if you want a “downtown dinner then curtain call” kind of night.
Note: the list above includes events highlighted in the What’s Up? Media roundup for this week. If you are reading this after those dates, jump down to the weekend section.
Friday (March 6)
B.I.G. Book Sale (preview day)
Fri, March 6 • 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM • 451 Defense Highway (Annapolis)
One of our favorite “Annapolis errands” because you leave with a stack of great reads and feel like you won the day. Expect seriously good prices and lots of variety.
Ribbon Cutting: Elephant in the Room
Fri, March 6 • 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM • 8421 Veterans Highway (Millersville)
New restaurant opening energy is always fun. If you love being the friend who finds the next “let’s do happy hour here” place first, this is your moment.
Saturday (March 7) | Big St. Patrick’s Weekend vibes
Mad Cute Market
Sat, March 7 • 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM • The Great Hall at St. Philip’s (730 Bestgate Rd)
A curated indoor market with vintage finds, accessories, and creative goods from local small businesses. The vibe is fun, social, and very “I found the perfect statement jacket.”
B.I.G. Book Sale (main day)
Sat, March 7 • 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM • 451 Defense Highway (Annapolis)
If you want the best selection, go early. If you want the calmest browsing, go mid-morning with coffee in hand. Either way, bring a tote.
The Official Annapolis Shamrock Stroll
Sat, March 7 • 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM • Downtown Annapolis • 21+
The biggest downtown bar crawl of the weekend. Expect drink specials, giveaways, and a very green crowd. If you’re doing this, plan a rideshare and pace yourself.
Peake Irish Experience (Main Street)
Sat, March 7 • 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM • Main Street (Downtown)
If you want more of a “festival stop” than a full crawl, this is another way to lean into the theme. Think Guinness energy and a downtown crowd that’s ready for parade weekend.
Annapolis St. Patrick’s Hooley
Sat, March 7 • 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM • Naval Academy Alumni Center (Fluegel Hall)
The official kickoff party for parade weekend. Live Irish music, traditional fare, and the kind of “everyone’s having a blast” atmosphere that makes Annapolis feel like a small town. Tickets are limited and typically sell out.
City of Angels (Weekend performances)
Fri, March 6 and Sat, March 7 • 8:00 PM • Colonial Players Theater
Want something other than crowds and green beer? Theater night is a strong move. Grab dinner downtown and make it a full date night.
Heads up: Visit Annapolis notes that Shamrock The Dock is paused for the next couple of years due to City Dock construction, so the celebration is focused on the stroll, hooley, and parade route fun.
Sunday (March 8) | Parade day
Annapolis St. Patrick’s Parade
Sun, March 8 • Steps off at 1:00 PM • Downtown Annapolis
Parade route starts on West Street at Amos Garrett Blvd, heads toward downtown, loops around Church Circle, then continues via Northwest Street to Calvert and St. John’s Street. Get there early if you want a prime spot, and keep an eye on rolling road closures.
The High Kings (Irish folk, two shows)
Sun, March 8 • 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM • Rams Head On Stage
Parade earlier, then Irish folk later. Honestly, that’s the full weekend arc right there. If you want a guaranteed indoor plan after the crowds, this is a great capstone.
Local pro tips for parade day
Go early, wear comfy shoes, and plan your parking. If you’re meeting friends, pick a landmark (like Church Circle) so you’re not playing “where are you?” all afternoon. And if you’re celebrating, be safe and rideshare.
