Join Us for the Eastport Back-to-School Ice Cream Social
Teachers are back in their classrooms this week, preparing to welcome students on Monday, August 24. On Sunday, August 30, we’re meeting by the water to celebrate the first week back and give a little back to Eastport.
The Eastport Back-to-School Scoop runs from 12 to 2 p.m. at Horn Point Harbor Marina. The Always Ice Cream Company truck will be serving free scoops, Oscar’s Coffee will be open with drinks available for purchase, and we’ll be collecting supplies for Eastport Elementary.

A Sunday afternoon by the water
Stop by Horn Point Harbor Marina, get a scoop, grab a coffee, and catch up with people around Eastport. Enjoy a fun and relaxed way to mark the end of the first week back at school.

Proud to partner with two local businesses
We’re proud to partner with Always Ice Cream Company and Oscar’s Coffee, two locally owned businesses that give so much to the community around them. Both make room for neighborhood gatherings and local causes, and we’re grateful they are part of this one.
Always Ice Cream Company
Always makes handcrafted ice cream in Maryland and brings it into the community through its food truck. For this event, the truck will be parked at the marina and serving free scoops from 12 to 2 p.m.
Oscar’s Coffee
Oscar’s is an Eastport coffee spot owned and run by our local neighbors. It will be open throughout the event, with coffee and other drinks available for purchase.
Help stock Eastport Elementary classrooms
Eastport Elementary is a Title I school. In the latest published Maryland school meal data, 250 of 278 Eastport Elementary students were approved for free or reduced-price meals in the 2025–2026 school year. The supply drive is a practical way for neighbors to help keep everyday classroom items on hand as the year moves along.
A 2025 National Life Group survey of more than 2,100 educators who applied for a classroom-supply grant found average out-of-pocket spending of $623 a year. Basic supplies topped the list of needs, and respondents also identified snacks and personal-care items.
What we’re collecting
Bring one item or a small bundle from the list below if you are able to contribute.
Average annual out-of-pocket spending reported by more than 2,100 educators in the 2025 supply-grant survey.
Gift cards are especially useful later in the year when classroom supplies start running low. Every donation will go to Eastport Elementary, and everyone is welcome to join us and enjoy a free scoop.
