There’s nothing quite like the smell of a real Christmas tree filling your home. β¨ Whether you’re team “cut-your-own” or “swing by a local lot on the way home from practice,” Anne Arundel County is full of festive spots to find the tree for your holiday season.
As local Annapolis and Severna Park Realtors who spend our days driving these back roads and backyards, we love any excuse to support our area farms, nurseries, and small businesses. Here’s our 2025 roundup of favorite places to snag your Christmas tree this year—plus a few tips to make tree hunting as smooth as possible.
Always check each farm or lot’s website or social media before you go. Hours, inventory, and special events can change quickly once the season gets underway.
Cut-Your-Own Christmas Tree Farms π²
Holiday Memories Farm – West River
Tucked into southern Anne Arundel County, Holiday Memories Farm feels like a Hallmark movie set in the best way. This family-, veteran-, and woman-owned farm offers acres of cut-your-own trees along with pre-cut options, all on a scenic property planted with thousands of Christmas trees.
Why we love it:
- Classic cut-your-own experience with tractor rides on select days
- Hot drinks, a small farm shop, and plenty of photo-ready spots
- Seasonal events, including Santa visits on specific dates
It’s a fantastic choice if you want the full “day at the farm” tradition without driving far from Annapolis.
Friendship Trees & Christmas Shop – Friendship
Head just a bit farther south and you’ll land at Friendship Trees, a long-time Anne Arundel favorite. Here you can wander the fields to cut your own firs, pines, and spruce, or choose from pre-cut Fraser firs.
The on-site Christmas shop is packed with wreaths, roping, tree stands, ornaments, and décor—basically everything you need to dress your home from front door to fireplace.
Modlin’s Tree Farm – Lothian
If “new family tradition” is on your holiday wish list, Modlin’s Tree Farm is a must-visit. This Lothian farm lets you choose and cut your own tree or pick from pre-cut premium Fraser firs. Their trees are carefully tended year-round so they look picture-perfect by the time you arrive.
Expect that classic farm feel: rows of evergreens, friendly staff, and a laid-back pace that lets you enjoy the outing instead of rushing through it.
Shoo-Fly Farm – Pasadena
Shoo-Fly Farm in Pasadena is a hidden gem for North County families. This choose-and-cut farm offers a wide mix of trees—spruce, fir, and pine—so you can find everything from tall and stately to short and chubby “Charlie Brown” charmers.
Kids especially love the farm animals, and the whole experience feels very old-fashioned and homegrown. Note that they are often cash-only and hours can be limited, so definitely check before you head out.
Garden Centers & In-Town Tree Lots π
Maybe you’ve got a packed December calendar and need something a little more “grab-and-go.” These local garden centers and community lots still bring plenty of holiday magic—with shorter drive times and longer hours.
Homestead Gardens – Davidsonville & Severna Park
Homestead is a full-on holiday destination. Between the Davidsonville flagship and the Severna Park location, you’ll find fresh trees (real and artificial), custom wreaths, greens, and a jaw-dropping number of themed and decorated trees. Their seasonal experience includes display trees, festive events, and often a chance to spot Santa.
If you love the idea of picking up your tree and knocking out some décor and gift shopping in one stop, this is your place.
Greenstreet Gardens – Lothian
Just down the road in Lothian, Greenstreet Gardens pairs Christmas trees with homegrown poinsettias, custom-made wreaths, and plenty of holiday décor. The flagship location is a fun little escape from the bustle of town—with events and workshops sprinkled throughout the season.
It’s ideal for families who want a festive outing but prefer paved parking lots and garden carts over muddy boots.
Miles Tree Farms – Annapolis (West Street)
If you’ve ever driven down West Street and spotted the big inflatable snowman standing guard over rows of trees, you’ve seen Miles Tree Farms. This Annapolis staple brings in fresh-cut trees and wreaths each year and prides itself on offering some of the freshest options in town.
It’s an easy in-town option when you want local quality but don’t have time for a full road trip to the country.
Barnyard Christmas Trees – Glen Burnie & Pasadena
Barnyard Christmas Trees operates seasonal lots in Glen Burnie and Pasadena, with hundreds of fresh-cut trees standing and ready to choose from. They typically offer a big mix of varieties, plus wreaths, tree stands, mistletoe, and holly.
It’s the kind of place you can swing by after dinner, let the kids help choose, and be back home stringing lights an hour later.
Old Timer’s Christmas Trees at Earleigh Heights Fire Department – Severna Park
For many Severna Park and Arnold families, Christmas officially starts when Old Timer’s Trees pop up at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company on Ritchie Highway. This long-running lot fills the field with pre-cut firs and pines, twinkling lights, and a friendly community feel.
Proceeds help support the fire department, so your tree does double duty: holiday magic and community support.
Quick Tree-Shopping Tips for Local Families π
A little planning goes a long way—both for your living room and your sanity. Before you hop in the car:
- Measure first. Know the maximum height and width your space can handle, and remember to factor in your stand and tree topper.
- Prep the car. Bring an old blanket, tarp, or sheet to protect your seats or trunk from sap and needles on the way home.
- Ask for a fresh cut. Having the trunk trimmed at the lot helps your tree drink water and stay fresh longer.
- Check for freshness. Look for flexible needles, a rich evergreen scent, and branches that don’t shed excessively when you gently shake the tree.
- Water, water, water. Trees can soak up a lot of water in those first few days—keep the stand filled to help your tree stay fragrant and safer all season long.
Whether you’re hauling home a towering fir for a historic Annapolis colonial or a petite spruce for a Severna Park townhome, we hope this guide helps you find the tree that makes your home feel magical this year.
And if you discover that your holiday décor is officially outgrowing your current space, our team is always here to help you find a home with room for all the twinkle lights, stockings, and future Christmas trees. π‘π
